A chiropractic adjustment consists of a light thrust that is placed into a joint at a specific location. It is a safe and effective way to reduce pain and return the joint to its proper function. Post adjustment you will likely notice an immediate increase in range of motion and a reduction in pain.
Active Release Technique (A.R.T)
The adjustment is generally coupled with muscle work at our office. The human body has approximately 650 named muscles and 206 bone and those muscles attach to the skeleton in various places. Releasing those muscles helps reduce the overall muscle tonicity, return range of motion and helps set the adjustment to last longer. The goal is to maximize the lasting effects of each treatment.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (I.A.S.T.M)
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (I.A.S.T.M) is a modern approach to a traditional Chinese soft tissue technique known as Gua-Sha. The doctor uses a stainless steel tool and lotion/emollient to glide the tool along the desired treatment area. This process relaxes the tissue and muscle underneath, allowing from increased range of motion and modulation of pain.
Movement Screening and Coaching
Using the principles of Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) we evaluate how you move and the quality of that movement. We start with a basic screen and contingent on the information gathered, we then dive into specific body parts to see how they are functioning. Our goal is to find the dysfunctional patterns and address those through treatment and movement relearning.
Ergonomic Evaluation and Screening
Ergonomics and a proper workspace setup are key to maintaining a healthy body and posture. Modern life exposes the body to longer periods of sitting than ever before. A way to manage some of the stresses of that environment is through an ergonomic evaluation. We ask you, the patient to provide a picture of you in your work space. From the pictures and information provided we will provide you a list of recommendations and changes you can make to optimize your health and workspace.
Exercise & Rehab
Establishing an exercise and home care routine is vital to recovery and overall health. We follow the motto "Motion is Lotion," movement in any form lubricates the joints of the body. We tailor a home exercise program (H.E.P) that fits yours needs and requires little to no equipment to accomplish. Similar to a physical therapy session we will provide guide you through a series of stretches and/or strengthening exercises that you can do outside the office.
